The Race Matters Consortium web-site is made
possible, in part, by a grant from the Casey Alliance on Racial Equity to the Rockville Institute. |

Introduction
One important aspect of addressing issues of racial disproportionality and disparities, and achieving
racial equity, is a tool box of proven policies, practices, and interventions. In this phase of the
heightened awareness throughout the country we begin to see documents discussing “Promising Practices”
that offer different levels of information regarding the practice’s evidence base. With this effort,
the Race Matters Consortium hopes to contribute to problem solving by identifying efforts that are
culturally sensitive and present them in a way that both policy makers and practitioners are able to
identify relevant tools to meet their needs and use them accordingly.
